Classis, Day 1

Today was a travel day for us as we flew to Belgrade, Montana for the upcoming meeting of Classis Pacific Northwest on Tuesday and Wednesday.  The flight, although delayed a bit, was uneventful.  We arrived at our hotel around 4:00 pm and then headed out to look for some dinner.  We ended up at Famous Dave's BBQ in Bozeman.  Excellent food, as you can see from the picture (baby back ribs, beef brisket, beans and mac & cheese with jalapenos).  The other picture is one of our outstanding elders pondering what he will be saying at the meeting tomorrow.

Dumbing-Down Worship

Not sure of the author's religious persuasion, but he certainly nailed #39 in his list of the "50 People Who Have Wrecked Britain."  You can read it here.  Sad how this guy seems to "get it" at a time when many "Reformed" people are clamoring for more of this garbage in worship.

New Blog Title

After various suggestions of what I should entitle my blog such as "Just Add Oil" (a reference to the trip to British Columbia that an elder and I once experienced) or "Gravy For the Soul" (a reference to the fact that I detest gravy), I've decided to go with "Confessions of a Confessional Rev."  It's a take-off on Mark Driscoll's book, "Confessions of a Reformission Rev."  And so, since I'm "confessional" (as in I subscribe the Reformed confessions) and since I'm a "Rev." that's the title for now.

What's Wrong With This Picture?

Isn't it just a bit ironic that the man holding this solid gold staff and whose vestments contain jewels should criticize people for their pursuit of wealth? (which is what he did on Monday)
